Welcome to Gateway Community and Technical College

Dr. G. Edward Hughes, Founding President and CEO of Gateway Community and Technical College with StudentsThe dictionary defines Gateway as 'an opening, an access, or a passageway'. At Gateway Community and Technical College we pride ourselves on being the entry way for anyone seeking education and training that will lead to a better quality of life for the student and our region. We are delighted that you have selected our college as your post-secondary learning center. Our college faculty, staff and administration are committed to meeting the education and training needs of every student. We believe in providing you with the very latest technical training and the very best general education programs possible. Our goal is very simple: to assist you in developing your skills, behaviors and attitudes that will enable you to enter and advance in your chosen profession. You will find Gateway faculty and staff to be very capable, inspirational, knowledgeable and very caring individuals who place your interests and learning needs first.

Gateway Community and Technical College currently has four campuses located in Covington/Park Hills, Edgewood, Highland Heights and our new location, Boone County. In addition to these campuses Gateway offers classes in Pendleton County. The college offers courses through the Urban Learning Center in Covington, Newport and Dayton. Classes are offered there in association with Northern Kentucky University and Thomas More College.

Over the next few years, our college will be going through a major transition to become more a comprehensive community and technical college. This transition will enable us to offer a broader range of programming. Traditional freshman and sophomore college classes will be designed for transfer to four-year colleges, and expanded student outreach programs will be designed to provide opportunities for those who want to get a new start on their education and career closer to home or by using the Internet.

Gateway Community and Technical College is committed to providing you with affordable, high quality, postsecondary education that is relevant to the needs of business and industry that you will enter after graduation. The college places a significant emphasis on improving skills in the workplace by providing customized industry training through our Business and Industry Services Department as well as apprenticeship and adult education programs. An example of this is our newly established Hispanic Educational Clearinghouse where we are providing translating and interpreting services, English language classes and assistance with the GED. Other partnerships with labor unions and trade associations offer students real world, up-to-date training and education.

At Gateway Community and Technical College we take great pride in helping individuals like you make meaningful life-career decisions that are important to fulfilling future aspirations. As a student at Gateway, you are very important and you will be supported by a full-range of services designed to support your success. Programs and services ranging from financial assistance, a structured student-advising program, tutors and special disability services are available. Other opportunities include internships and cooperative education experiences that will give you a structured start in your career field. Your success is our success. I am confident that you will find your experiences with us enriching, challenging and of real value. As you enter the Gateway to a better future, you have my personal best wishes for success.
