Gateway Community and Technical College graduated a record 1,145 students at commencement exercises at 7 p.m. today at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center here.
“We are now graduating more students than our total fall enrollment in 2000, the year the Kentucky General Assembly approved the concept of a comprehensive community and technical college in Northern Kentucky,” said Ed Hughes, Gateway president and CEO. “The class of 2012 collectively earned 1,688 credentials, including degrees, diplomas and certificates, and its members are well-qualified to transfer to senior institutions or pursue high-wage, high-demand jobs, depending on their personal aspirations.”

The TANK shuttle bus that runs Monday through Thursday among the four Gateway Community and Technical College campus locations will temporarily cease operations at the end of its normal run on Thursday, May 10. The shuttle will not operate during the summer months. The shuttle service will start up again at the beginning of the fall semester on Aug. 13. Watch the website for updates on the new fall shuttle schedule.

Gateway Community and Technical College will award nursing pins to 33 new graduates in a pinning ceremony Tuesday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Academy in Park Hills. The students include 23 graduates of the associate degree nursing program and 10 practical nurses.

Gateway Community and Technical College and Thomas More College today announced a new educational partnership that will guarantee qualifying Gateway graduates automatic admission to Thomas More College and an enhanced financial aid package with a value of at least $10,000. Students earning an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at Gateway will be eligible for the new “Four is MORE Program.”

Mollie Neff, of Independence, a graphic arts student at Gateway Community and Technical College, was awarded a District 5 Silver Student ADDY Award for her Becca Boone Bourbon package design. The competition consisted of students from Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
