Costs and Financial Aid

SAP Appeal Instructions

If your financial aid is suspended you need to need to file a SAP Appeal Request.  Following are the reasons you could suspend:

  1. Earn (pass) less than two-thirds (67%) of all credits you attempt
  2. Have less than a cumulative 2.0 GPA
  3. Have attempted more than 50 percent of the credits required for your program of study (MTF)

You may file a SAP Appeal Request to be considered for financial aid reinstatement explaining the unusual circumstances that were a factor in not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.

  1. Complete a FAFSA for the academic year in which you plan to enroll.
  2. Complete the SAP Appeal Request.
  3. Have your Academic Advisor complete page 4.  Your Academic Advisor's name may be obtained by logging on to Student Self-Service.
  4. Attach documentation of any unusual circumstances to the Appeal Request Form.  Examples of unusual circumstances include:
    • Illness
    • Accident
    • Death in your family
  5. Submit completed and signed SAP Appeal Request to the Office of Financial Aid.

Please note: You, the student, are responsible for payment arrangements pending an appeal decision. Tuition is not guaranteed nor is a book charge available to you pending a decision.  Appeal decisions are sent to your Gateway student email.
