Emergency Medical Services

Do you keep a cool head in a crisis? Are you interested in saving lives? If you answered yes to those questions, you may be interested in a career in Emergency Medical Services. Paramedics provide pre-hospital emergency care to acutely ill or injured patients. Program graduates are eligible to take the Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) National Registry Examination upon completion. The program also meets the standards of the U.S. Department of Transportation National Standard Training and KCTCS-Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS). Paramedic program enrollment is limited, and students are required to be a certified EMT prior to entering paramedic program coursework.

Gateway offers two degree tracks:

1) Students wanting to become paramedics- may apply to the paramedic program (see application below) and may obtain either a certificate in Paramedic Technology or an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Paramedic Technology

2) Students who are already certified paramedics- may apply to Gateway and pursue an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Paramedic Technology
