Full-time parent. With an in-home day care, and four sons still at home, Jenny benefits from Gateway’s online classes and convenient campuses for her education.
Ever since I was little, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I’ve always loved school and I’ve always loved teaching others. But when I got pregnant with my first child, I knew college would have to be on the back burner for a little while.
I knew I wanted more children, and financially, I’d have to have some type of income to support them. The most creative solution for our life was to open an in-home day care center, which we did almost 10 years ago. Once life started to settle down, and I finally found the time to look into a college, I did. Gateway was an excellent choice.
I enrolled in Gateway about two years ago and I’ve been really happy with my decision. I never expected a college experience to be so personal. The small class sizes at Gateway help you get to know your instructors and classmates personally. Seeing the same faces and truly building relationships with those around me are things I value about my Gateway experience. I also love that Gateway campuses are close to home and convenient to get to no matter where you are.
With my day care and my own children at home, it’s been a struggle to learn to balance school and my home life. The convenience of online courses and helpful instructors at Gateway made it possible for me to do everything. Everyone should know that they can have it all—your personal life, work life, and an education. Having an education is so important and choosing Gateway to pursue that education is a fantastic way to get started.
