Meet Sheila

My role at Gateway: I am the Library Specialist at the Edgewood Campus.

How long I’ve worked here: I’ve taught at Gateway since 2001 and worked in the library since 2008.

Where I’m from: I am a native of Clearwater, Fla., and a graduate of the University of Miami and the University of South Florida.

Why I do what I do: I like to help people. I have gained a lot of knowledge, and I am glad that I am in a position where I can use that knowledge to help others succeed and achieve their goals. Also, I love to read so it is great working in an environment that focuses on information and reading.

My philosophy: “Live simply, that others may simply live.” – Dorothy Day

I like our students because: They teach me something new every day. Our students have so many different life experiences and challenges. It is motivating to be around people who have such a passion to improve themselves that they will do whatever it takes to succeed.

A little more about me: I think it is important that we all do our part to help the environment by using fewer natural resources. I help by riding my bike to work. It keeps me healthy, saves me money, I never have to worry about parking, and I can eat chocolate everyday guilt free.
