My role at Gateway: I am the Business Services Specialist for Student Financials.
Who I am: I am a Business Affairs Specialist and have the privilege of working with students concerning tuition payments and payment plans. I also manage the KCTCS Higher One card program for student refunds and I act as the student liaison coordinating with many College Departments and the outside agencies which support our students through scholarships and private funding.
How long I’ve worked here: My career in Education began at Gateway 10 years ago.
My hometown: I was born in Cleveland Ohio, but have spent most my life as a proud Northern Kentuckian.
Why I do what I do: Annually our students have the opportunity to rate the service they receive from our Business Office. I have a passion to provide excellent customer service and anxiously await these survey results expecting our score to remain in the highest percentile, well above Community College National Averages. I believe each and every student is a customer worth our total focus. I welcome the opportunity to brighten someone’s day and make a difference through the service we provide. Words cannot express how many students have certainly brightened mine! That is why I do what I do.
My philosophy: I begin each day reading a sign I keep at home and in my office. “May the work that I do and the way that I do it bring faith, joy and a smile to all that I come in contact with”. That is the philosophy I strive to live by.
I like our students because: Each student has an individual story and unique life experiences. They come to Gateway with the drive and desire to improve their lives while juggling their jobs, family and education. I admire each and every one of them.
A little more about me: I have found my most rewarding vacations are ones I go on to help others. I have worked in New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity and recently returned from India after working with the International Justice Mission. I enjoy watching Law and Order, CSI and most all crime shows. I enjoy John Grisham books and my favorite all time movie is Rainman. I recently added a little stray silk terrier to my life and named him Scout.
