College can be a stressful experience, and it is quite common for you to need a little help coping with the demands of a busy life. We offer personal, career and academic counseling services.
Life happens. Sometimes events take place outside of the classroom that interfere with your education. In addition to workshops, we offer short-term, personal counseling services to all enrolled students. Services are provided by trained counselors and intervention specialists. Students seek free services on a confidential and voluntary basis. Services include, but are not limited to, the following areas: crisis intervention, short-term support, consultation, and referral to a wide variety of community-based services. For more information, or to make an appointment, please contact 859-815-7683 or 859- 442-4195.
We offer career counseling to current and prospective students to help you make relevant career decisions. We offer a free, online career assessment tool that assists students with selecting a career and/or major. For information, contact the Career and Transfer Center at 859-442-1609. Students are offered assistance in the job placement process for co-op opportunities and practicums, internships, and the general job search while in college. Students interested in transferring to a four-year institution are offered counseling and referral information. Gateway alumni are also offered assistance in career guidance, job referrals and job placement. For information, contact the Career and Transfer Center at 859-442-1609.
Academic Counseling is available to help you students assess and improve your readiness for success in college. Counseling and intervention services also are provided to students on academic probation and/or academic suspension. Targeted services may focus on such issues as time management, test anxiety, study skills, balancing responsibilities, and strategies to deal with academic expectations. Program faculty and trained academic advisors provide academic counseling to all students on all campuses. Counseling services are free of charge to all enrolled students.
