Kentucky WINS (Workforce Investment Network Systems) Training Funds
KY WINS (Workforce Investment Network System)--a program of the KY Community & Technical College System (KCTCS)--provides funding to companies who are willing to invest in their employees through a structured training program. Designated training experts at GCTC’s Business and Industry Services Division work with companies to access these funds through a simple application process.
Benefits and Features:
KY WINS will...
- Pay the company's share, up to 65%, for KCTCS courses
- Invoice companies for up to 35% of the cost
Gateway Community and Technical College will...
- Consult with companies to develop training plans for employees
- Customize courses to meet specific training & education needs
- Identify other companies to form partnerships for cost-effective training
- Coordinate all aspects of the training: location, equipment, curriculum, materials, certified instructor
Workforce Alliance Grants
The Workforce Alliance is a partnership between the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) and the Kentucky Department for Adult Education and Literacy (DAEL). This joint venture provides funding for workplace essential skills training specifically targeted to business and industry.
Note: To qualify for Workforce Alliance funds, employees must be paid while attending eligible training activities.
Workforce Alliance funds cover:
- 100% of instructor fees, curriculum development, and instructional materials.
- Individual assessments, texts, and supplies.
- Administrative fee (15% of total contract amount)
Workforce Alliance eligible activities:
- Workplace Essential Skills training in:
- communication
- problem solving
- reading and writing
- computation (including pre-SPC math, pre-blueprint reading)
- use of technology/intro to computers
- teambuilding
- time management
- critical thinking
- Job specific, pre-employment training with a goal to hire at least 50% of potential employees after successful completion of training
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Traditional ABE/GED classes on-site
- Assessments associated with the Workplace Essential Skills type of training.
Bluegrass State Skills Corporation
The importance of workforce training has never been greater. As companies think globally, it's imperative that Kentucky's workforce be the very best it can be to remain competitive and provide good jobs for its citizens. The Cabinet’s Bluegrass State Skills Corporation (BSSC) plays a significant role in keeping Kentucky's business and industry competitive in the global economy by assisting them in providing the necessary training for their workforce.
The BSSC has built a strong reputation for meeting and exceeding industry needs for customized, flexible and industry-driven skills training. It achieves this by partnering with other employment and training organizations to tailor a comprehensive program of skills training services for new, expanding and existing companies.
The BSSC's four main functions are:
- To administer and fund Kentucky's customized business and industry-specific training efforts through training agreements for Grant-in-Aid and Skills Training Investment Credit projects that are approved by the BSSC Board of Directors;
- To act as a broker, by coordinating the resources of providers of skills training and employment services;
- To facilitate the creation of public/private partnerships through education and training programs designed to meet unfilled training needs of individual and multiple-company training projects, or consortia; and
- To administer any special state appropriation for customized business and industry-specific training.
