Description: This workshop defines and explains Lean Manufacturing, Visual Factory Management
and 5S as they apply to in plant applications at a manufacturing facility. In addition to the classroom
experience, the participants will perform an actual 5S project in the workplace.
Competencies: At the completion of this workshop, the participants will be able to:
1. Explain what Lean Manufacturing is and is not
2. Describe three practical applications of Visual Factory Management
3. Explain the five steps in the 5S improvement process
4. Determine ways that the process can be applied in their own work areas
5. Begin an actual improvement project within their work area.
